DOMESTIC CLEANING
Whether you have established lawns with flower beds or a simple patio with pots –
and everything in between - your garden is unique and deserving of attention.
Would you happen to need one-off clearance and/or seasonal maintenance? Perhaps you
have a particular project in mind and are unsure where to turn. Or maybe you are a
keen gardener but without the time or energy to maintain your beloved plot?
Whatever your need, we will offer free initial/ongoing consultation, and provide hands-
on work, offer horticultural advice and guidance and can make referrals to other
specialists.
Small to large plots
In the UK, all birds, their nests and their eggs are protected, by law. Trimming of
hedges and small trees, therefore, requires timely seasonal attention. Often this
entails working in late winter or early spring before the nesting season or waiting until
all birds have fledged and left the nest in May-June.
Small trees, Roses, Flowering shrubs and Climbers produce flowers and berries/fruits
at differing times throughout the season. Depending on whether your plant is a
spring, summer or autumn flowering type, with seasonally sensitive pruning, you can
avoid cutting off flower buds and branches, and enhance the flowering display that each
plant offers and increase the resulting fruits and berries that will feed your garden’s
wildlife.

Getting your garden ready in spring
Will include clearance of winter die-back and
leaf fall and perhaps we can help introduce new plantings for spring colour and
summer blooms.
Tying in any new growth of climbers will provide the stems with support and
encourage them to grow in the direction you want.
Re-edging your lawn will improve the overall effect.

Late spring/early summer tasks
Will include cutting back spring bulb die-back and
putting plant supports in place before the height of the growing season, when long
stemmed plants can become top-heavy and precious plants are vulnerable to
toppling over in adverse weather.
In the height of the growing season, dead-heading and light pruning of shrubs and
flowering plants will keep your shrubs healthy and your summer flowers happy and
blooming, up to the first frosts.

NATURE-FRIENDLY PRACTICES
Weed control - No chemicals used. Hand weeding or burning, to remove annual and perennial weeds. Mulching and/or using a barrier layer over bare soil, to slow down/ prevent regrowth.
Pest control - No chemicals used. Plant-based products and use of beneficial predators to treat existing pest problems. Good garden management and planting schemes to attract pollinators and encourage beneficial insects as natural pest control.
Mulching - Use of organic mulch (eg:- woodchip, sheep wool, compost) to cover bare soil and slow down/prevent weed re-growth.
Seasonally sensitive garden clearance - Delayed clearance of winter die back and leaf fall, until hibernating insects have emerged from shelter, in late spring
Autumn time clearance - when summer flowering seed heads and hollow stemmed plants are left to stand, offering shelter to insects and food to birds overwinter.
Spring
By delaying clearance of your garden until late spring, you will be
protecting and promoting the survival of solitary bees and other ground living
beneficial insects that use decaying plant and leaf matter in your garden as habitats
to hibernate and overwinter, until they emerge to feed and reproduce.
Nature-friendly practices
Autumn
By leaving the stems and seed heads, of certain summer flowering
perennial plants to stand over winter, this not only gives your garden some winter
interest, the hollow stems will provide a hiding place for insects and the seed heads
a valuable food source for birds into early spring.
Nature-friendly practices
You may have overgrown shrubs that might have become small trees, outgrown
their allotted space, or worse, are coming to the end of their natural life. We can
advise and attend to the reshaping, cutting back or removal of these once-loved
plants.
You may have an empty unloved space, maybe paved and intended for seating, or
with an old lawn in poor condition, or an existing flower bed that looks tired and
needs attention. We can advise and attend to the improvement and/or extension of
existing beds or positioning and creation of new planting areas either around, (or in
place of) a paved area or lawn.
We will advise and attend to new planting schemes that include year-round interest,
wildlife friendly plants to increase colour and biodiversity, using native shrubs and small
garden trees, that will provide height and dimension to your outdoor space.
Renovation/Redesign/Replanting
No garden is too small, or lacking in potential, for it to become a thing of beauty, something to treasure, especially when you wish to fondly remember someone you have loved and sadly lost.
Let us help you to design and create a unique living, healing, and growing outdoor space. Something to enjoy and nurture you in times of need.
